Land Rover Safari Tours Along Hadrian's Wall

Exclusive Day Safari Tour

One Day - It is possible to get a real feel for the achievement and magnificence of Hadrian's Wall, along with the dramatic landscape in which it resides, in a single day, if you know the right person and you have the means of accessing those places that are not always easy to reach. The solution is to take a Land Rover Safari for a selection of short walks, in the company of a qualified and experienced local Guide.

Out of the Ordinary - When an article in the Observer newspaper began with "Crouching in a field in Northumberland, our guide, Gary Reed, is demonstrating Roman warfare tactics with two sticks and a dried cowpat", it more or less encapsulated Gary's less than orthodox approach to interpreting the heritage. Referred to as "the perfect Wall expert" in the Guardian and a day in his company being highlighted by the Sunday Times in their ‘Best of Britain' series for Days Out in the UK, you can take it that a Tour with Gary will be a day to remember.

Individually Tailored - Every Hadrian's Wall Safari Tour is unique, as it is specifically designed to cater for the interests of each individual group. You can not only walk some of the Wall's best-preserved sections, but also discover and explore the diversity of the area's rich and colourful heritage.

Tour >>

Exclusive - All Tours are charged at a single rate (not per person) and are exclusive to the one booking, focused on the interests of who participates - whether that be one person travelling solo, or a group of upto six persons, the total cost (£300) remains the same.

Time to Explore - A 'Day Safari Tour' in Gary's company generally involves a pick-up at about 10am and a drop-off at around 4pm, which allows time for a really good exploration of the heritage both On and Off the Wall.

Collection & Return - Pick-up and drop-off is usually from an agreed convenient location, either in the central area (eg Vindolanda or Once Brewed Visitor Centre), or Hexham Railway Station (on the Newcastle-Carlisle line). Alternatively, it could be from your accommodation, if it is in close vicinity of either of these locations.

Exploring Options - Time is yours to use as you choose - with short Walks anywhere along a 30-mile section the Wall, that could take in the likes of Birdoswald, Walltown, Steel Rigg, Sycamore Gap and Housesteads.

Sites of Interest - Many take the opportunity of visiting the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda (the only ongoing archaeological dig site in the vicinity of the Wall), where new finds turn up on a daily basis during the digging season.
